News of the Batgirl movie being canceled came as a shock to DC fans and even the directing duo Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah were surprised and “saddened.” Batgirl has remained a popular character in the DC Comics, with a rather large fan following. She has been adapted for films and television several times in the past, but this was going to be her first solo project. However, it seems like Warner Bros. didn’t like the direction it was taking, as the film moved into post-production, and pulled the plug because it did not align with their vision.

Taking to Instagram, Grace revealed her feelings about losing out on the opportunity to bring Batgirl to life once again. Despite the film’s cancellation, the actor remained graceful in her words, and thanked the crew for all their hard work. “I am proud of the love, hard work and intention all of our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over 7 months in Scotland. I feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process,” she wrote. She was also grateful to the DC fans for their “love and belief” in her, and even appreciated the fact that she was given the chance to “take on the cape and become my own damn hero.” She ended her post with “#Batgirl for life.”

The post contains multiple images and videos from the sets of the canceled Batgirl film. The first image features Grace dressed in the iconic suit, followed by a clip of her on set, watching through some footage of the film. There are a few behind-the-scenes shots of her dressed as the titular character, with makeup and prosthetics that indicate that the Batgirl had participated in a fight. The most fun clip consists of Grace and her co-stars taking a breather on set, dancing to some popular tunes.

One of the shots in Grace’s series includes what seems like a closeup of footage from the Batgirl film. It features what appears to be an explosion, with Grace’s Batgirl and Jacob Scipio’s mob boss Anthony Bressi seemingly watching on. Fans are theorizing whether it is from an action sequence, which potentially involved the film’s villain, Brendan Fraser’s Firefly. They will never know for sure, considering the film has been shelved by Warner Bros.
