Revealed via a somewhat brief teaser trailer, Batman: A Telltale Game Series appears to retain the cel-shaded visuals used in other games from the developer, and it will receive a new title at release. While it’s a little strange that we’re learning about this before seeing more of the Telltale Games Marvel project, both fans of Batman and of Telltale’s previous works should be excited at this news. Telltale has a proven track record of critically-acclaimed games, and they will no doubt treat the Batman IP with as much respect as they have other franchises.
This week has proven to be quite eventful for fans of the Dark Knight. Earlier this week, the news broke that WB Montreal is working on two new DC Universe projects, with the purpose of expanding the DC Universe in the realm of video games. And that begs the question: Will Telltale be a part of this effort to expand the DC Universe?
Perhaps WB Montreal’s pair of games and this Telltale series will connect with the Batman: Arkham games to create a shared gaming DCU. Of course, this is just speculation at this point, as ultimately, we’ll have to sit tight and wait for more official information on all these DC Comics gaming projects. However, with a release slated for 2016, hopefully the wait for more on Batman: A Telltale Game Series won’t be too long.
The first episode of Batman: A Telltale Game Series will be available at some point in 2016. No platforms were confirmed, but it seems like a safe bet that it will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at the very least, with mobile platforms and last-gen systems possible as well.
