The batmobile has undergone quite a transformation throughout the multiple Batman films released over the past decades. This photo seems to be of the batmobile that was a part of the Tim Burton era of Batman, one that is a fan favorite. Burton’s Batman films were able to break barriers, quickly becoming mainstream due to their popularity. Burton’s take on Batman was more dark, sinister, and gothic than the past live-action action versions. The picture that a fan snapped is similar in many ways to Burton’s batmobile design.

The batmobile has a deep, curved front with wings attached to the rear of the car. Both Burton’s version of the vehicle and the batmobile found in real life share that overall image that was displayed in his movies. Part of the reason why Burton was able to usher Batman into the mainstream was through his much darker tone, with heavy inspiration from the Joker. The first-ever batmobile was much more simplistic and lighter in tone, borrowing the shape and origins from a Lincoln that was reminiscent of the vehicle designs from the 1950s.
The OG batmobile actually has a two-toned color to it, which also makes it seem much more innocent and less spooky than Burton’s take. The batmobile has orange color trailing throughout the sides and front, very quick use of color combined with the classic black. This batmobile seems much longer, and instead of having a deep curve in the front, it remains straight and bubble topped. The batmobile through the years matches what each take on Batman was trying to express at that point in time.
The possibility of seeing a batmobile cruise down the streets of Monaco is quite the image, and fans are desperately wanting to take it for a spin. The upcoming film, The Batman, will feature yet another new design of the batmobile for fans to look forward to.
The Batman is set to be released on March 4th of 2022.
